This Website is not designed to teach the art of Cabinet Making nor to offer a dedicated “how to” help desk when it comes to Design and working out the cabinet sizes that are needed.

To order your new cabinetry you specify each cabinet's external dimensions and a few additional details, such as Additional Shelf(s), Left- or Righ Hand Door Hang etc.

It is expected that anyone buying products from this site has already a good understanding of basic Cabinet Making principles and methodology. Our aim at Cabinets on-Demand is to supply a completely customised flat-pack cabinet that is easy to assemble - but you have to select from the products on offer.

You will be provided with some documentation about each cabinet, but because of the unique nature of what we offer, it will not be a step-by-step guide to assembly.

It is expected that the assembler of the flat-pack cabinetry will have their own basic Cabinet tools (drill, battery drill, hammer, etc). It is the users responsibility to ensure that the cabinet is correctly installed & levelled (fixed into position on-site) and to fix a cabinet to the wall. It is up to the end user to supply the necessary fittings and hardware required to do so.

All the cabinets from Cabinets on-Demand will come with the necessary screws and cams to assemble the cabinet, but not fix it to the wall.

The cabinet parts are all labelled in a logical order to assist in assembly, please take your time setting (laying out) the cabinet parts before starting to screw them together. This simple step may save you a lot of time later.

Each part has a label with a cabinet number on it. The cabinet number corresponds to the line number of the order that you placed. Once you have assembled a few flat-pack cabinets, you will find it is very easy and fast.


Considerations when asking for a Quote

Cabinetry Designs may be a bit complex - there are so many options to consider – but our website makes it possible to bring those options to you, but this is a bit more difficult when we are just working from a sketch, or even a full Kitchen design plan.
We here at Cabinets on-Demand are quite willing to assist you with development of a specific Quote but in return we ask for your cooperation in considering a few options as set out below.

Upon receipt of your answers we will normally be able to provide a detailed Quote for your consideration within a short period of time.

About Shipment and Delivery costs
Cabinets on-Demand organises the production process from its central office in Canberra, actual production may take place in our factory there or at one of our other manufacturing OUTLETs - from where you can pick-up your cabinetry.

Alternatively we can ship the components in a crate to a convenient Freight DEPOT close to you (at a reasonable cost) from where you can pick-up / unpack on a convenient date within office hours.

Home Delivery is also offered but will be at a higher cost and could provide issues in unloading of sometimes heavy crates.
Therefore I ask you if you can please check on “STEP 1: Select OUTLET or Depot” (see left most column on one of our website's Home pages) and advise us your most convenient Outlet or Location, alternatively your Postcode.

Door/Drawer front & Panel materials and colours.
Please check on “STEP 5: Colours & Profiles” what is your preferred finish Style and advise us. We can of course give alternative quotes for different finish options, if required. For further details please check on “Cost Considerations” (see ‘Top Line on each page’)
We have a range of standard colours but can buy in any Colour/Style you require (see: “Your Choice” option), at an additional cost, probably around $150 per Style. The greatest portion of this is the cost of the Edge taping that comes in rather large and expensive rolls.

Fillers and End-panels
Unless your walls are perfectly straight it is likely that gaps may appear when affixing cabinets against an exposed wall . Also Fillers can be nice when cabinets connect in corners, to allow doors to be opened to 110 degrees. Filler pieces of from 20-50mm are commonly specified, that can be shaped on site. Please consider this in your sketch/plan design.

End-panels should be specified where the sides of cabinets are visible, to cover the plain white melamine carcass and any screw holes. Normally in the same colour as the Doors etc. but you can specify a different colour for contrast. Often the sketch/plan submitted does not consider this.

Bench tops.
Cabinets on-Demand at this stage only offers High Pressure Laminate benchtops, 34mm thick, from any laminate supplier/colour specified by you, cut to your specifications.
Please have a look at “ – Benchtops” and then click on and read the “Benchtop Ordering Guidelines”, to ensure you can advise us what postform front and back edge you want (Bullnose/D-round/Square – no difference in cost) as well as Left and Right End finishing needed (Unfinished/Square/Rolled/Banana – cost from $0-$80).
Benchtops also come as Standard, Gloss or Squareform with difference in costs. Prices are in discrete 1000mm length and now up 610mm in normal Width sizes.
So we do need your guidance.

Cabinets
Any size is acceptable, for Base units a general Height of 720mm is assumed if not clearly stated on a plan, with a Width up to 1200mm aiming at a Bench Height of normally 900mm (assuming a 150mm Kickboards). A Depth of 580mm is normal with a benchtop of 600mm giving a 20mm overhang. Wall units are normally 320-350mm in Depth.

Corner cabinets
We have a nice range of corner cabinetry where you can specify different Left and Right Hand Width and Depth to suit your needs up to 1000mm in some cases, for both 90 and 135 degree angles, for floor based or wall cabinets. Please consider in your design as this is more convenient then ‘Blind’ cabinets.

Drawers
Drawers are around 50% greater in cost then the same size cupboards but also can provide 50% more usable space. Soft-closing slides can be used ($73 per drawer extra!).

Hinges
All hinges used are the German engineered precision hinges made by Hettich – we normally use their standard hardware but do offer ‘soft-closing’ hinges ($6.50 extra/hinge) and ‘push-to-open’ hinges ($25 perDoor! But you do not need a handle).
For Upper (Wall cabinets) we normally extend the Door by 20mm to serve as a grip (cost $15 per cabinet).

Kickboards and Facias
Unless specified differently all our floor cabinets have adjustable plastic legs – either short ones 90 -135mm, or 110-165mm, that are covered by a Kickboard. As kickboards cover normally more than one cabinet they can be rather long and may compromise shipment and could be supplied in appropriate pieces.
Please consider the use of the ‘return’ kickboard – is that needed (a bit more fiddly in installation) or should an End-panel be extended to the floor?
By default we use a kickboard height of 150mm and provide them in extra long lengths suitable for onsite cutting to size, if needed.
Facia boards can also be supplied to cover the cabinet – ceiling space if ordered specifically, but we do not offer a range of Architraves to cover the final gap.
I trust these questions are not too onerous and help to identify your needs.


Installation

We provide an Assembly & Installation Guide on DVD for your assistance and if you follow the suggestions then the whole process is quite simple.

If you don't have the time, or necessary skills or tools to complete the job unassisted, then you could try the following listed experienced cabinet installers to assist you. Any costs negotiation will be between you and them.

The Cabinets on-Demand on-Line - process

How to purchase Custom built flat pack kitchens and cabinetry on-line from our networked factory direct on-demand manufacturing in ACT, VIC, WA and SA for delivery to DIY installers and the kitchen renovation Trade.

 

Customer tasks:

    1. Select a Product from one of the Category ranges and supply your specific dimensions - then "Add" the Product(s) selected to the Shopping cart.
    2. At End: Click 'Check Shopping List' to edit your data for completeness/consistency.

      NOTE: You can stop at this stage as all the Cost Details will have been shown on your PC for local printing
    3. Proceed to "Checkout" and supply Payment and   Delivery details to the Central Secure Server
    4. Recheck and Confirm the Order details.

Cabinets on-Demand on-Line tasks

    1. Your Order entry is checked on-line as much as possible -
      after submission your details are confirmed immediately.
      by sending an automatic "Receipt".
    2. Your selected Product(s) and parameters are reviewed by our Production Manager and validated. 
    3. The CAD/CAM & CNC machining instructions are compiled and scheduled for a  production center close to you.
    4. Acceptance, deposit amount and delivery schedules are confirmed by e-mail.
    5. After receipt of Deposit the Oder is processed.
    6. When production, packing and shipping is completed
            you will be notified by e-mail about likely delivery.

Task Details

  1. Selecting Products

Select from the  Product Categories  list at the left hand side of the page and open up the choices. Read the details for each category and then select from the Height, Width and Depth ranges presented.
Then select a product option and either accept or modify the appropriate Dimensions and parameter values.

When satisfied, 'click' on the Add to Cart icon. The Product specification is then added to the Shopping Cart.
All the"Cart's" Product details are then shown for your inspection and a total cost is calculated each time you add a product.

Click the little "BACK" button to add more products, or the "REMOVE" button on a Product Specification to 'return' a Product. Alternatively you can change a "QTY" to a different value.

You can validate your progress by clicking the "Check Shopping Cart " button at any time - but you Must use this at the end of your Data input.

  2. CHeck Shopping Cart

Clicking this (CHeck Shopping Cart) Icon at the bottom of the Shopping List will activate a check of your product specifications to help validate the "Request for Quotation" prior to Submit to Cabinets-on-Demand. Discounts and Delivery costs are re-calculated and various additional validations are performed - in case or errors or omissions you will be prompted to make corrections.

When the validation has been completed you will be prompted to go to "Checkout", and the screen will change a bit, showing once again your complete Shopping List with a new icon at the bottom " Proceed to Checkout". You can still "Cancel" at this moment.

    3. Proceed to Checkout.

'Click' the "PROCEED TO CHECKOUT" button.

Now you enter in a "Secure Connection" with the central Server and you will be prompted for both Billing and Delivery Address details. All marked fields must be filled in!

When you 'click' CONTINUE all the Order details thus far are listed for Confirmation again - you can print this, but an E-Mail copy will be sent anyway to confirm receiptat the Server.

A final Comment covering the whole "Order" can then also be recorded.

NOTE. Payment detail prompts give a few options for Payment - e.g. Direct Debit, Credit Card, etc.
A Direct Deposit choice is advised, you are then not expected to provide any private details or pay for the products. After checking Cabinets on-Demand will contact you for a Deposit and give you our Bank Account number for a Direct Transfer.

Alternatively, if you want to pay by Credit Card then supply the customary details - no charge will be lodged against your Credit Card untill all details have been confirmed.

   4. Recheck the "Order"

When you 'click' CONTINUE after completing the Payment Forms then the Order Confirmation screen is displayed, including the ORDER NUMBER.

Plese have a final check to ensure that every product line is still needed - you can print the details for your records or await the Order Receipt e-mail that will be sent from the system automatically. Cabinets on-Demand will then follow up later with any comments after the Order is checked for consistency.

If you want to submit a part order first then please state this in the final "Comments" field and we will combine the multiple Orders into one final Confirmation order.


           NOTE: You can abandon the process at any stage using the "Back" button on your Browser screen.

 

   Cabinets On Demand(TM)

The Cabinet production data received from this Web site is validated and checked by our own in-house automated software and then send to the closest manufacturer to be automatically converted into machine code for their CAM systems. Our automated software ensures optimal use of materials, CNC equipment and eliminates transcription errors and omissions.

Administrative details are checked through clerical means aided by CRM software to check financial data, create records, shipping Labels, production schedules and management reports.

You will be contacted by phone or e-Mail to confirm the Order and Shipping date and to request a Deposit. On confirmation the order will be processed.

Validation & Payments

The View Cart button will show your Shopping Cart items (the first time you ADD a Product to the "Shopping cart" may take 10 seconds depending on your Internet speed, and 1-2 seconds for the next products).

After completing your order details (and some last minute Editing) then use the "Check-out" pages " to Enter Name & Address details and Payment options, viz. Credit Card, Cheque, Direct Transfer etc.

YOU NEED NOT make Payments now, just enter the Direct Payment as an option - Full or progress payments will be requested after Order validation. You can of course enter your Credit Card details now, as it is a safe process but we will not charge anything until the Validation Process is completed and you have agreed to us charging you a Deposit.

Try all the complete process.
Have a go
You can exercise all the various combinations and  delivery options without causing any data to be transmitted until you press the final "Order Confirmation Submit" button. If you like to try the complete process, including "Order Submit", Order Validation and e-mail(s) for Notification/Acceptance etc. then submit your Order whilst 'ticking' the "Direct Deposits" payment option.
This will allow us to check your details and provide feedback without the manufacturing process being started (and without financial commitments by either party).

NOTE: The first time you "Checkout" your Order selections it may take some 10 - 30 seconds before you have a response from the "Shopping Cart" process - but any other operations are quite fast.

SECURITY& PRIVACY

  • When you register email and address information for the Purchasing of products or other services offered on the Cabinets on-Demand (TM) Website then the information we collect may be combined with product order information obtained from our system provided through our site.
  • Like most"Shopping Cart" operations we do use a "cookie" to keep track of your interactions with our product order pages - the cookie is stored on your PC for up to 60-days after last data entry to facilitate order completion and is then automatically deleted. This cookie is not shared with any other operations and is unique to your PC. Any personal or private data to facilitate delivery and payments will only be required when you are asked to SUBMIT your data, that is then sent over a secure connection (by the "Ezimerchant service" operated by One-Technology) - to our production system database in Canberra.
    If desired you can delete the stored cookie yourself by looking for the cookies directory (IE - or cookies.txt or cookies.jar for other Browsers) under 'Your Signon name' in your "Documents and Settings" folder on the "C: Drive".
  • Personal data such as Name and Address information is not stored in our "cookies', but only sent to our core database system operated by CDAS in Canberra for use by Cabinets-on-Demand manufacturing services. The data transmission is a secure operations by the "Ezimerchant System" operated by "One Technology" - an ISP company specialising in providing e-commerce operations for a great number of small to medium-sized organisations. Their Security Certification can be checked by clicking on the "secure LOCK" icon on the status bar when an Order is submitted.
  • We use the information we collect to provide the services you have explicitly requested.
  • We may use your eMail address to send you updates on new services once or twice per annum .
  • If any newsletter type information is sent by Cabinets on-Demand to you then it will contain appropriate information to allow you to unsubscribe from any further such communications.
  • We will not share your information with a third party or allow it to send you direct communications about its products without your consent.
  • In order to help provide our services, we occasionally provide information to other companies who work on our behalf- for example when they supply some or all of your order components directly to your designated delivery address.

Service administration is a centralised function where all the data from across Australia is sent for automatic processing and error checking. For example verifying that the specified dimensions fit within the Product/Price range. Discrepencies will be notified and corrected via e-mail. Then the data is formatted for production processing and passed to one of the manufacturing plants closest to your location.
